Taking the First Step

“In the beginner’s mind, there are many possibilities. In the expert’s mind, there are few.” – Shunryu Suzuki

Many have said it’s never too late to start something new. I believe each day symbolizes a new beginning, and with that, a fresh opportunity. I envision this blog as just that – an opportunity. A chance for me to take one step further into the dialogue that’s happening around media and technology today.

I’ve been in the industry for more than 20 years and I’ve spoken at events and conferences all over. Throughout that time, I’ve seen this realm we work in evolve from a single channel environment to a world in which we can communicate via any number of platforms with multiple concurrent dialogues. Currently, I serve as the SVP, Group Publisher and CMO of IDG Enterprise, publisher of CIO, Computerworld, CSO, Inforworld, ITworld, and Network World. I also sit on IDG Enterprise’s Executive Committee, where I work with IDG’s senior management team to develop long-term business strategy, as well as keep my finger on the pulse of high-tech and media markets.

I’d like to share with you my take on developments, trends, and pain points I see in the field. I hope my comments will be thoughtful enough to keep your interest, and dare I hope, even worthy of your comment. Looking forward to the conversation.
