What does the Future Hold for Technology Spending Plans?

When trying to engage tech decision-makers effectively, it is vitally important to know their tech priorities and spending plans for the future. But how do you go about finding this information without a crystal ball or time machine?

Well luckily Computerworld conducts an annual study to forecast organizations’ future technology spending plans. And according to the 2017 Computerworld Forecast Study, IT organizations (especially at the enterprise level) are planning to increase their technology budgets.

So what technology will take priority and garner the most investment in 2017? The answer: Security. When asked about spending plans for particular technologies, security came in at number one with 47% of respondents planning to increase spending in the upcoming year. It was also selected as the single most important technology project to be worked on in 2017.

While security is clearly at the top of the list for organizations this year, it’s also causing some headaches for those in charge. It is the number one management challenge cited by respondents and is also noted as the most difficult skillset to hire for!

The message to tech marketers is clear here. Does your product or solution have a security benefit or value? Make sure your marketing messages showcase that up front and center!
